- As the originator of this thread, I'd like to say....
-
- Whilst I do not agree 100% with Joseph Waldvogel (joewald@crl.com)
- viewpoint, I do appreciate his candour. I do not want to see
- personal attacks over this.
-
- My personal POV is that their is a machine for everyone. For
- example, I own a Psion II and I'm still developing apps to meet
- my own personal needs. Ironically, New Tech (eg. the Psion 3a)
- is of no use to me because the text is way too small (I have VERY
- bad eyesight)! And, despite the lack of a 060 processor in my
- Psion II, it still does lots of useful things. I haven't yet
- expanded it to 8Mbyte because I truely believe the seeds for a
- great idea can grow from the smallest of computers. Let's face
- it, the original Apple GUI could of been prototyped on a
- Commodore 64 because the concept was very simple. And BTW, it
- didn't require a Pentium to create Tetris.
-
- OTOH, I could be wrong. Soaring prices in computer equipment
- and upgrades could lead to a good thing; online computing. Yes,
- pay-per-use computing! The only reason I'm for this is because
- of ridiculously high priced software. Online computing cuts
- out the pirates and makes the vendors PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR
- MOUTH IS; no use = no pay, it's that simple.
-
- Now, I know that last statement is going to create an uproar so
- I'm ready for the flames, but please, no personal attacks.
